Cherry Heering
Cherry Heering is a deep red cherry liqueur. It is the sweetest of the three and exhibits a more natural cherry taste when compared to both Kirsch and Maraschino liqueur.

Kirsch
Kirsch is a clear coloured cherry brandy which is slightly bitter due to the use of the pitts in it’s production.

Luxardo Maraschino
Marashino liqueur will impart less of a cherry flavour with the addition of subtle herbal notes and a slight bitterness.

Can Cherry Heering, Kirsch and Luxardo Maraschino be substituted for one another?
This all depends on the cocktail that you are making. Most recipes will specifically call for one of three, the one best suited to the balance of the drink and it’s flavour profile. If you are making a cocktail that calls for a cherry brandy (ie. the Singapore Sling) then I’d recommend utilising either Kirsch or Cherry Heering. Kirsch is the driest of the three mentioned whilst Cherry Heering is the sweetest so a little tweaking of your recipe may be necessary to achieve balance.
When a cocktail recipe calls for a cherry liqueur, the same process applies to achieve balance – think of the finished drink that you want to produce and use a liquor that compliments the flavours and profiles of that drink.
