The Diplomat cocktail is relatively low in alcohol – predominantly comprised of both dry and sweet vermouth. First published in 1922 in bartender Robert Vermeire’s Cocktails: How to Mix Them in addition to Harry Craddock’s Savoy Cocktail Book in 1930. A dry and aromatic cocktail.
- 60mL Dry Vermouth
- 30mL Sweet Vermouth
- 5mL Maraschino Liqueur
- 2 Dashes of Orange Bitters
- Add all the ingredients to your mixing glass
- Stir with ice
- Strain over fresh ice into an old fashioned glass
- Garnish with a twist of orange
Note that I mixed up the ingredients in the video below - swapping the measurements with the dry and sweet vermouth. Tasty nonetheless, it is not the original recipe.
